Power of a Job: We are seeking to hire multiple Unemployment Insurance (UI) Specialist 4, (UIS4) Training Benefits/TRA Adjudicators.
As you may know, due to the temporary closure of some businesses here in Washington state we are anticipating the need for additional staffing within our Claim Center operations. Thus, we are now in the process of hiring for a variety of positions for our Lacey Claim Center Team, and we are looking for both permanent and non-permanent (temporary) positions.

Our Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claims Centers provide timely and accurate unemployment benefits, information and referrals to appropriate resources. You will provide support by utilizing a thorough understanding of Trade Act and Training Benefits law and policy, solving issues and determinations to allow or deny TRA and Training Benefits. This work supports Employment Security Department's mission by delivering superior employment services, timely unemployment insurance benefits and a fair and stable unemployment insurance system.

What a typical day looks like:

Answer questions from claimants and other parties regarding procedures, laws and policies with respect to unemployment insurance, TRA, and training benefits, including Self Employment Assistance Program, Commissioner Approved Training, and Availability issues.
Review labor market information to determine eligibility for Commissioner Approved Training, Training Benefits, Self Employment Assistance Program, Availability and fraud.
Review documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations.
Manage assigned cases by researching, gathering, and analyzing required information to write accurate determinations regarding eligibility for unemployment insurance, TRA benefits, and training benefits, including Commissioner Approved Training, Self Employment Assistance Program, and Availability issues, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Process statewide TRA payments by keying certification claim forms, applications, and determinations.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in social science, business administration, public administration, or related field AND three (3) years of professional unemployment insurance claims experience.
OR A combination of education and/or relevant experience equivalent to seven (7) years.
OR One (1) year of experience as a UI Specialist 2, OR one (1) year of experience as a UI Specialist 3
Additionally these positions require the incumbents to complete an initial 6 month Unemployment Insurance training course.
