Core Duties/Responsibilities

The Associate Director of User Experience is an aspiring leader who will drive the user-centered design processes in partnership with the Technology, Creative and Strategy teams across our most complex digital projects. Operating under the UX Director, you will create and deliver truly remarkable, influential and impactful work for web, mobile and emerging technologies. You should possess the ability to think strategically, have experience managing a team as well as the ability to lead the design of large, complex systems of interactions. As the experience lead, you will create UI designs, personas, sitemaps, user journey's and whatever is needed to communicate the team's thinking.

As an integral member of the team, you'll be able to flex your creative muscles as you collaborate closely with leads from other disciplines and build strategic relationships with our clients.

Responsibilities and experience:

  • Create and deliver end-to-end experience solutions for interfaces, large-scale digital experiences, or applications - from concepts, detailed wireframes, prototypes, to functional specifications
  • Complete understanding of how to apply interaction design methodologies and research to solve business problems
  • Extensive knowledge in data migration and the use of atomic design or design systems
  • Being a strategic partner with clients, account and team leads
  • Demonstrating XD thought leadership within the company and across the industry
  • Leading teams in crafting innovative consumer experiences that 'move the needle' while ensuring consistency with best practices and standards
  • Uncovering insights based on consumer behavior
  • Spotting emerging trends in the digital space
  • Clearly communicating complex ideas with solid rationale to a broad audience (which may include those unfamiliar with general UX principles)
  • Advocating for the user and making this practice contagious
  • Using your entrepreneurial spirit to identify new business opportunities for clients and the agency
  • Designing for a variety of contexts
  • Creating rock-solid deliverables including IA & sitemaps, user journeys, wireframes, competitive assessments, and ecosystem diagrams

Job Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in Experience Design, UX, or Interaction Design
  • Experience mentoring and training mid-level team members
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design principles
  • Thorough understanding of digital trends and best practices
  • Familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of current technologies
  • Mastery of UX tools for generating wireframes and specifications (such as Sketch & Invision)
  • Portfolio or work samples required
  • Bi-weekly travel from NY to Princeton office
