Works both independently and as part of a team to develop systems that meet both business and compliance requirements.Position RequirementsREQUIRED:Familiar with methodologies of the user experience field, including various research methods, screen and interaction design, and stakeholder communications. Basic familiarity with human-centered design concepts and best practices in UX design, usability, and accessibility. Basic familiarity with mobile and responsive design principles. Familiar with the vocabulary of design, and the role that design plays in building information systems. Able to collaborate with development teams that have different approaches to the system development life cycle and the role of user experience research in projects. Basic familiarity with agile development practices and the system development life cycle. Limited exposure to current usability research and design tools. Basic familiarity with the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and how they apply to federal agency business operations and processes. Limited experience with assistive technology and accessibility validation tools.Coordinates the solicitation of feedback from users, stakeholders, project teams, and IT leadership. Typical contacts are with employees and managers within IT and with staff and managers in other Board divisions engaged in different functions and kinds of work. Communicates in non-technical language with stakeholders about moderately complicated business processes, UX concepts, and best practices. Understands business processes and asks carefully designed questions to foster a greater understanding. Serves as a bridge between development teams and the clients/stakeholders with varying levels of technical acumen. Possesses strong writing and communication skills. Communicates research analysis and design rationale effectively and responds constructively to client design requests. HIGHLY DESIRABLE: Coordinates and may lead studies using various research methods to identify user needs and goals, task flows, and stakeholder attitudes and requirements. Plans and conducts interviews with users and stakeholders to determine user roles, environment, workflow, attitude, and requirements. Analyzes user statements to determine findings and recommendations. Plans and conducts usability testing, and analyzes results to form conclusions and recommendations. For complex applications, conducts task flow analyses across multiple user roles, and develops conceptual models to define and streamline work processes. Demonstrates rationale and value of the proposed design through diagrams, annotations along with written and oral presentations. Develops and communicates content strategy for enterprise-level websites. Working independently or as part of a team, produces design deliverables such as wireframes, mockups, color analysis, or information architecture. Familiarity with concepts including component-driven design, mobile-first design, and Design Systems. Develops and may lead the enhancement of moderately complex front-end code prototypes using front-end design frameworks and template-based systems. Coordinates with developers to deliver front-end code for applications. **APPLICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE UNIT** REQUIRED: U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
